I've ported over the blog posts from old versions of this website. You will see "?" on the older blog entries because my previous dating system didn't include the day. Whoops!
Yesterday, I went to a hotel that services MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) to stay overnight for my exam earlier today. It was quite nice! My roommate was chill, and all the people there were from the general DMV area. I'm also like 90% I was the only one there who wasn't from a city. Regardless, it was a swanky place. I watched Seinfeld with my roomate for a good three hours.
Before sun up, we ate breakfast (this was quite unpleasant with runny eggs and cold sausage compared to last night's dinner of well-seasoned chicken and cake) and were then loaded onto a bus headed to the processing station. It all went pretty smoothly from there, aside from the part where I couldn't pee so I had to step out and chug water from the cooler until my shyness was vastly overpowered by a filled bladder. I got my vision, hearing, height, and medical history checked before they were done with me. It was a whole battery of tests that took roughly five hours.
Before and after my medical procsesing, I took the ASVAB (I will explain why my testing was cut in half later). I had initially taken the ASAVB in 2023 and scored 93rd percentile, but that score was out of date by the time I went to MEPS. I had to retake it, and I was quite worried I would score lower because 93 is a pretty good score. Much to my surprise, after everything, I scored 99th percentile! I am very pleased with this result, and should have a consortium of jobs availible for me to put on my request list.
Man, I love July 4th. Even if the political climate is disasterous in America, and I am in large part opposed to the Federal government's policies, I will not let the government take away my joy for this day. I had the American classics: Hamburgers & Hotdogs. They were delicious. I hope, that by the next July 4th, the spirit of our nation will be in a lighter mood. Happy 250! Here's to 250 years more.
I passed my drivers test :)
Snow.
Would you believe me if I told you that the last snow we had lasted for over two weeks? Yup. It sleeted for the vast majority of the time, with intermixed layers of softer snow, resulting in about ~5 inches of pure ice with little layers of snow in between. That's partially why the roads were unusable for days, and we were all pretty sick of it by day 5. And guess what happen on God's blessed day of March the Second Twenty-Twenty Six? It snowed. Because of course it did. It should be spring. Flowers should be blooming. I should not have to wear a JACKET to WORK on MARCH SECOND!!!
SNOW!
We've finally had our real first snow of the season in Maryland, and at the end of January no less. Forecasts were saying up to 21 inches, but it slowly widdled all the way down to 6-ish. A scam if I've ever seen one, but its better than no snow (what usually happens). It's also done me the favor of icing up the roads, and I've gotten a bunch of days off work as a result. Thanks climate anomaly!
Having worked for several months at Target, I can now attest that my previous job was worse than I thought. The management here is kind, and so are my coworkers. There is however an issue with what corporate expects we can do versus what our managers know we can do. This causes issues where people from corporate will show up and demand that we perform an impossible labor, despite reality. It's starting to get on my nerves.
I've found a job at Target. It's far better than McDonalds, but there are still some pains when it comes to management. Definitely an improvement though.
Since school is over, I have no reason to be unemployed. Im on the job hunt again but I am NOT working in food service.
I graduated highschool! Took long enough. I've got a lot of friends who im going to miss, but im going onwards and upwards. So long!
I quit my job at McDonalds. If you are looking for your first job, as was I, I emplore you to look elsewhere.
